Nothing beats cold water to a dry mouth. Water brings life and refreshment to everyone. It is essential to a well functioning system. The same can be said for the Holy Spirit in our lives. When the Spirit enters our life it is like fresh cool water. Jesus is that water for thirsty souls.
Isaiah 44:3
“For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, And floods on the dry ground; I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, And My blessing on your offspring;”
Quench Your Thirst
These had to be encouraging words for the Israelites to hear, although they may have missed the message. The Jews had become spiritually dry and God wanted to be the water for thirsty souls. He wants to quench the thirst of everyone who was thirsty. He wanted to flood the dry parched lands of his people but they wouldn’t respond to him.
Pout It Out
Jesus is what we need for our barren life. He quenches our spiritual thirst and brings life back to barren ground. God promises that he will pour the water of the Holy Spirit on those who are thirsty. Are you thirsting for more in your life today? Cry out to God and have him pour out His Spirit on you. Is there evidence of Spiritual fruit in your life? Ask for the rain to come down and replenish the dry ground. God wants to pour out His Spirit on the church. He wants to be the constant source of renewable life in us. Everything else quenches and dries out our life but Jesus is the one who brings new life and He brings it in abundance.
