Most people don’t want to start at the bottom. They want all the benefits and perks that someone with more experience. As a believer in Jesus Christ, we shouldn’t have the entitled mentality. We should be willing to earn the trust of anyone we work for. Can you be trusted by your employer or coworkers? That trust starts by being faithful in the little things.
Luke 16:10
Whoever is faithful in very little is also faithful in much, and whoever is unrighteous in very little is also unrighteous in much.
Start in the Little Things
The person who can be trusted with the little task will soon be trusted with the larger ones. The employee who is willing to start at the bottom and work hard will eventually be promoted into management. The couple who is responsible with their finances when they are first married will have ample resources later on. If God can trust you to serve Him in the simple things will be challenged to bigger leaps of faith. This is a biblical principle that all of us need to implement.

Jesus, who is God, lowered himself down to earth and took the role of a bondservant. The bondservant was the lowest of all slaves. He had the worst jobs, like washing feet, and had a lot of people above him. Jesus could’ve come as a prince and had the world worship Him, but He chose to model serving us. Serving always starts with the little obscure tasks that no one wants to do. They don’t draw attention or bring praise, and that is on purpose. God has us do those tasks to see if we can be trusted.
Can You Be Trusted?
Can you be trusted? Starting at the bottom takes integrity. The temptation to cut corners at this stage is great. We have to resist those urges and determine in our heart that we will do a good job. While no one else may notice God is watching and He is the one who matters. You may have bosses who are keeping you down, and you think that it will never change, but God can work in the most challenging situations. Trust Him and build the trust of those around you.
