It is so easy to give a shoutout to someone you know. You can post a picture of them, tag them in it, and then write something flattering to let others know your love an appreciation for that person. It is so common today that we can almost do it in our sleep. The question Jesus asks us this morning is “Do we acknowledge Him before others?” I’m not talking about sharing a meme on facebook about Him. I’m talking about telling others you are a follower of Jesus. Be careful. If you deny Him, He will deny you.
Luke 12:8-9
And I say to you, anyone who acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge him before the angels of God, but whoever denies me before others will be denied before the angels of God.
Where Do You Stand?
Jesus hits on an important topic today. Do you acknowledge Him before your friends, family, and coworkers? He isn’t talking about preaching to them. He is talking about speaking of Him when the conversation comes up. Do people know where you stand in your beliefs? Don’t let the fear of reprisal or ridicule stop you from living out your faith for others to see. Acknowledge Him in every way possible.
Don’t Deny Jesus
There are a lot of covert Christians in the world. They faithfully attend church, read their bible, and serve God, but out in the world, no one knows it. At work they are silent. They don’t want to offend others or damage relationships by letting their beliefs known. When a discussion comes up about religion, they don’t defend what they believe out of fear, this a form of denial. Jesus tells us that if we deny him before others, he will deny us before the angels of God.
Be Bold in Your Faith
Maybe you are reading this and thinking you don’t have the boldness or courage to take this step. If you are looking for the strength inside of yourself, you won’t find it. Those need to come from the power of the Holy Spirit working in your heart. Seek Him, and you will be surprised when it shows up. When the opportunity arises for you to acknowledge Jesus stand firm in your faith.
