One of the great things about the Olympics is the closing ceremonies when all the nations enter together. Every flag is brought in, but all of the countries are enter as one large group. The athletes are in party mode and are hanging out with other athletes they have met from all over the world. This is what I picture when I read Revelation 7. There is a great multitude, and everybody nation and tribe are represented.
“After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands;”
All the Same
When we all get to heaven, what a wonderful place it will be (I think that is a song from the ’70s). All of the believers from every nation and tribe over all of time will be there. They will be gathered standing before the throne, declaring that Salvation is from the Lord. Give me chills just thinking about it. While we live different lives right now, we will all be the same up there. There will be no more debates about worship style or doctrine, and it will all be settled.
Are you heaven-minded? Some people ridicule that by saying, “You’re so heaven-minded that you’re no earthly good.” I don’t believe that. Paul tells us to set our mind on things above and that Jesus will work the rest out. How do you get heaven-minded? You fill your mind with the word of God and ask the Holy Spirit to produce the fruit of love in your heart.
Every Tribe and Nation
We don’t know when we will get to heaven, but it is getting closer. Don’t get caught up in the things of this world. Spend your time on things that will have an eternal impact. How much you have stored up for retirement pales compared to your name being written in the Lamb’s book of life.
