Nothing beats coming home from a long trip and sleep in your own bed. As you walk up to the door, all you are thinking is “Finally home!” That is how we will feel when we are in heaven. God will be dwelling with us, and everything will be perfect, literally! There will be no more pain, no more sorrow. After being sojourners on earth, we will finally be home.
Revelation 21:3
“And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.”
In His Presence
In Scripture, Tabernacle always represented the presence of God. God desires to be with us. Three times in this verse it says that God will be with men (read all people). That is pretty incredible. Most religions are based on man pursuing God and always falling short. Christianity is based on God seeking us. That final reunion will happen in heaven. We will finally be home, no longer strangers in a foreign land but home with our heavenly Father. He is anxiously looking forward to that homecoming.
Be Filled With the Spirit
In the meantime, we need to understand that God desires to have us in His presence through the Holy Spirit. When we receive Jesus as our savior, He fills us with the Holy Spirit, the presence of God in our lives. He is there to teach, guide, and correct us. It is so easy for us to go on our own way and ignore that leading. Each day we need to be seeking that guidance. We need to spend time in silence and worship, instead of just plowing through our devotion time. There has to be a stillness of our spirit so that we can sense His leading. These all make up the presence of God in our daily life. One day we will be there permanently but until then seek His presence.
