Babies can change emotions very quickly. They can go from crying to laughing in seconds once they get what they want. Take it away, and they start crying again. As an adult, you are expected to be more mature and not let your emotions swing suddenly. Jesus can take you from weeping to laughing simply by a touch of His Holy Spirit. He can remove the pain and the sorrow and replace it with His grace and mercy.
Luke 6:21
“Blessed are you who hunger now, for you shall be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh.”
Life Isn’t Fair
Jesus knows that life is hard. He also knows that it’s not fair. Some people can’t get out of their dilemma no matter what they do. It would be easy to blame others and give up. Jesus wants you to know that He sees you and that things may be rough right now, but they will get better. He hasn’t forsaken you but is right by your side. You need to keep your faith in Him and not give in to discouragement.
Sorrow Into to Joy
During the Sermon on the Mount, He tells the crowd that those who hunger will be satisfied, and those who weep shall laugh. It is part of what is called the “Beatitudes.” Blessed is another word for happy. How can you be happy when you’re hungry and weeping? Because you know that your struggle is only temporary and that it will change one day. Whether here on earth or in Heaven our sorrow will turn to joy.
From Weeping to Laughing
Don’t worry about the timing of when it will change. Focus on Jesus by diving into His Word and being available to be used by Him. Focusing too much on your problems will not make them go away. It will only make them seem larger. Instead, cast your cares on Him because His burden is easy. Then go about your day rejoicing in the fact that Christ’s grace and mercy have changed you. You will be amazed at how quickly the cloud of discouragement lifts.
