This devotional will run precisely two weeks from Christmas day. I don’t know about you, but the Christmas spirit is in full force. Decorations are everywhere, stores are playing Christmas music, and people are always in a hurry going somewhere. It’s easy to lose the meaning of the season in all of the bustle. It’s also easy to lose touch with the Spirit of Life that Christ Jesus put in us when we set us free from sin and death.
Romans 8:1-2
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus, because the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death.”
Don’t Be Discouraged
Are you struggling with the guilt of past sins? Is it hindering you from moving forward in your relationship with Jesus? Too many Christians are hounded by thoughts of stupid things they have done in the past, not realizing that all has been forgiven. There is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. He is not looking down from Heaven shaking his head and wagging his finger disappointed in you. Stop beating yourself up.
Changed from the Inside Out
The Spirit of life has set you free. Before Christ, you were on the path to death because of your sin, but Christ came and redeemed you. He paid the debt of your sin and made you righteous in God’s eyes. Now, through the Holy Spirit, he is working on you from the inside out, changing your fleshly nature into one in the image of Jesus Christ. You have been set free from your old nature and been made new.
Full of the Spirit of Life
Are you full of the Spirit of Life? This is where your joy and peace come from. When we walk in the Spirit, our life is in surrender to the will of Christ and being led by the Word and the Holy Spirit. When we are full of the Spirit of Life, our sinful nature diminishes, and our heart is knit closer too God’s. Our thoughts and desires change, as well. Ask God to fill you with His Holy Spirit right now.
