God will show his greatness one day. So many people have a picture of preachers as people who preach hellfire and brimstone. The preacher is red-faced, yelling at the people, and saying they are all going to burn. Where did we get that picture? It comes from Ezekiel. In end time God will rain fire and brimstone on those who oppose him.
Ezekiel 38:21-23
I will summon a sword against Gog on all my mountains, declares the Lord God. Every man’s sword will be against his brother. With pestilence and bloodshed I will enter into judgment with him, and I will rain upon him and his hordes and the many peoples who are with him torrential rains and hailstones, fire and sulfur. So I will show my greatness and my holiness and make myself known in the eyes of many nations. Then they will know that I am the Lord.
The Coming Battle
In the end times, the nations of the earth will rise against Israel, and God will defeat them. There is a lot of debate who “Gog” is. No one knows. What we do know is that they will lead a coalition of armies against Israel (mountains in vs. 21) and God will show how great he is. He will come against them, and all those nations will turn on one another. Then with God will judge them with disease and rain fire and sulfur on them.
God Will Show His Greatness
This sounds all gory, and it will be but what we need to take away from it is that God protects his people. He always has. He will show his greatness and holiness to the world and make himself known in the eyes of the nations that came against his people. Then they will know that He is the Lord. On the grand scale, this is going to be an incredible scene. On a personal level, we need to remember that God knows every hair on our heads. Things never get so big that he forgets us. He never loses us in the midst of all his duties. The forces of Satan cannot penetrate his love for us. God is so great that he can take care of the forces of darkness that come against His kingdom and still show tender love to us when our heart is hurting. Keep your hope in Jesus Christ. He will never leave you nor forsake you.
