Jesus gives us a new spirit. When we become a Christian, the Holy Spirit comes into us and makes us a new creation. This new spirit starts to work to make us into the image of Christ. It begins to produce fruit such as love, joy, and peace and God starts to use gifts in us. Paul tells us to walk in the Spirit.
Ezekiel 37:14
I will put My Spirit in you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. Then you shall know that I, the LORD, have spoken it and performed it, ” says the LORD.’
The Spirit Changes Us
We see the power of the Spirit working throughout the Bible. In the Old Testament, he comes upon people to accomplish his purposes. Here in Ezekiel, the Spirit brings dry bones to life. In the New Testament, the Spirit works to change both people and regions.
Don’t Lose Touch
Every Christian goes through a time of dryness. We get busy with life, and the things of the Lord fall by the wayside. We stop reading our Bible, praying, and church attendance becomes sporadic. One day we look up from our busyness and feel so far away from God. We also grow dry when we are involved in a lifestyle that goes against God’s will. Our sin separates us from God. This produces a spiritual wasteland in our life.
Breathe New Life
There is hope. Jesus can bring us back from that barren wasteland. His Holy Spirit can breathe new life into our dry bones. If you are feeling dry turn back to him today. Seek his face. Fill your mind with his Word. Be open to him working in your heart.
