Being in a courtroom can be intimidating. At the front and center of the room is a large desk elevated above everything else. When the bailiff says, “All Rise!” here comes the Judge in his black robe. All the focus is on him because what he says goes. One day Jesus will sit on the judgment seat and judge the sinner and the saved. What will be the verdict for the life you lived.
John 3:19
“This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil.”
The Only One Qualified
God didn’t send Jesus into the world to condemn it but to save it. He loves you and wants the best for you. He is only the one who can give you life. He is the only one qualified to save people from their sins is the sinless Son of God. That is why God, in His infinite love, sent Him. He doesn’t want anyone to perish but come to everlasting life. The only way that doesn’t happen is if we reject the gift of grace.
Decided by Your Deeds
If people reject that salvation, they will be subjected to judgment. They will be judged on choosing darkness rather than light. It won’t be a verbal choice that comes from your mouth but decided by your deeds. Those who love the darkness cower in fear at the light and shy away from anyone who exudes it. When you receive Jesus, the light comes into you, and you shine it everywhere you go. That may explain why old friends who knew you before Jesus now avoid you.
Here Comes the Judge
Sadly, many people will experience the judgment seat of Christ because they loved their sins more than eternal life. You can avoid that by turning from your sins and choosing Jesus. He can help you overcome your desire for the deeds of darkness and live a life filled with light. If you feel like you are losing that battle, go to prayer right now and ask Jesus to bring victory over the sin and darkness in your heart.
