Pleasing God is Impossible Without Faith. No good work or behavior will get you over the top. It is stepping out in faith that will please Him. Your willingness to step out of your comfort zone when you don’t know the outcome and when things don’t look promising is faith. Faith is where we learn that God is in control and has everything lined out to accomplish His purposes.
Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
Integral Part of Our Walk
Faith is an integral part of every believer’s life. The writer of Hebrews tells us that it is impossible to please God without it. The difficulty is not in believing in God, but in serving Him with faith. It’s easy to do acts of service that make us feel good or impress others. What’s often difficult is to do acts of service that necessitate faith.
Faith Takes Trust
Faith takes trust. First, we have to trust that we are hearing from God. Second, we have to believe that it’s the right thing to do, but probably most difficult is that we must trust God when we are not confident of the outcome. It’s easy to have faith when it’s something we’ve done before or with people we know. It’s hard when we have to step out of our comfort zone. Abraham went to a land he didn’t know for a promise he couldn’t comprehend.
Reward Coming
The reward comes when we seek God and step out in faith with what he is telling us to do. When in uncertainty, we push forward with what he is calling us to. This takes us seeking God and coming to Him as a blank slate. Faith is walking where we have never walked and attempting what we have never tried. It is the willingness to do something God has put on your heart even though everyone is telling you not to do it. Faith is being willing to look foolish for Christ’s sake. God rewards those who earnestly seek Him and believe.
