Let There Be Light I Daily Walk Devotion

The creation story is pretty amazing. God said; “Let there be light” and it appeared. Everything God spoke came into being. Add on top of that He was able to do it in six days shows you the sovereign power of our heavenly father. The God who called light into being is the same God who knows every hair on our head. He has lovingly created us just the same way he created the earth.

Genesis 1:3-4

And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.

Created in His Image

At Creation, God set about bringing something into being that didn’t exist. He created the heavens and earth and filled them with life. Animals were put on land and fish began to swim in the sea at his command. Each time he created something he looked at it and was pleased. His greatest creation of all was mankind. He created us in his image. He took the dust of the earth and formed it, then he breathed his life into us. That light of world lives in us.

The Light of the World

Jesus is the light of the world (John 1). He was there when light was first given, and then he became the necessary light is a world darkened by sin. Jesus is the only light we need. He can take our darkness are replace it with life. He searches us out and shines the light of his love on us to show our need for him. Light and darkness cannot coexist. Even the smallest shard of light will illuminate the darkest room.

Shine the Gospel

Jesus has called us to be His light in this dark world. As we live for him the light of his Gospel shines from us. We don’t have to act as a floodlight in other peoples lives, it happens by us being filled with the Holy Spirit. Those who love the darkness will flee and hide. As we shine we will find those who are drawn to the light. It is those who we are to shower God’s love on. They are seeking and God is using us to bring them to him. Let there be light in your life.
