Do you ever feel like you can’t get ahead? No matter what you do, something is always pulling you back to a dark place? You read the promises of the Bible and wonder why they don’t happen in your life? The disconnect may be that you don’t live the redeemed life. The mistakes of your past are holding you back when Christ has already done the work to set you free.
Galatians 4:4-5
“But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.”
Pay the Price
All of the Old Testament was a build-up to the moment when Christ came to redeem humanity. The fullness of time came, and God sent His Son. Jesus came as a baby, not as the King, who would rule the world. He had to come as a lamb before He can come as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah. Why? So that He could pay the price to redeem us with His life. This, in turn, opened the door for us to be adopted into the family as sons and daughters.
Accounts Settled
The word “redeem” is a financial term. It means to pay the debt in full. In Jesus’ time, when someone paid a debt, the receipt would be stamped “Redeemed.” or paid in full. That’s important for us because when Christ died on the cross, our accounts were settled. That debt of sin, which we could never pay on our own, was stamped redeemed. You have been bought with a price.
Live the Redeemed Life
Are you living as a child of God, or are you still trying to carry the burden of your shame? Sons are set free and can live with the assurance that the Father loves them. Those still bound by their guilt live in the constant fear that they will be punished for what they have done wrong, and they have to do something to make it better. Live the redeemed life and walk in the peace and joy that comes with it.
