Love never fails. When we truly love someone that love will never stop. We might become impatient or even angry but underneath all of that is a love that never fails. To fail means to give up and quit and when we attach our heart to someone else it is near impossible to break that. To do so causes extreme pain and betrayal.
1 Corinthians 13:8-13
Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known. So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
Never Stop
I like how this section begins. We are never to stop loving. Love never ends, period. God’s love has never failed us, so we can’t give up loving other people. Even when we are in eternity, we will still be loving. It will be a lot easier there, but it will still be present. If we make up in our mind that we will never stop loving people, it will make it easier to love right now.
Love Will Remain
Choose to love above all else. If there is someone we don’t like to be around, it’s easy to stop loving, yet we can’t. Did someone hurt you? Still have to love them. Been cut out of someone’s life? Yep them too. Love never ends. Spiritual gifts will pass away. This imperfect world will pass away. Love will remain. So we need to mature in our love. We can’t act childish anymore. We have to put our selfishness away and grow in our faith. So we need to dwell (abide means to reside or remain) in faith, hope, but most importantly love.
