Much is given to those who understand the word of God. When Jesus walked the earth, he spoke in parables. Not everyone understood them, To those who did they got the blessings of Jesus’ wisdom. To those who thought they had it together or were just there to get something from Jesus, they missed the message. Understanding is given to those whose hearts are open and ready.
Matthew 13:12
“For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.”
Given Understanding
Why did Jesus speak in parables? To those who understood they were blessed but to those who didn’t understand they would be even more confused. For those whose heart is turned towards God the things of God will be made clear. The Pharisee’s heart was far from God even though everyone thought they were the most spiritual. The man who dropped a multitude of coins in the offering was considered to be blessed by God while the poor widow was judged. Looks can be deceiving.
Given Abundance
Much is given to those who already have. The blessings of God are unending. That doesn’t mean He is going to shower us continually with financial gain. It says that the more our heart grows closer to God the greater we will understand His love for us. The more we die to ourselves and allow Christ to rule our heart the more we see the depths of His grace. We cannot comprehend how great His knowledge is but if we continue to fill our hearts with His word we will grow in our understanding of Him. We can live in His abundance, or we can live for ourselves and feel like we never have enough.
