Think back through history and try to remember people who were one of a kind in their profession. For music, you have people like Michael Jackson, sports you have Lebron James. There may have people that were just as good as them, but these people stood out because of the way they lived their lives. The Bible has a one of a kind character that is unparalleled, Moses.
Deuteronomy 34:10-12
“No prophet has arisen again in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face. He was unparalleled for all the signs and wonders the Lord sent him to do against the land of Egypt — to Pharaoh, to all his officials, and to all his land, and for all the mighty acts of power and terrifying deeds that Moses performed in the sight of all Israel.”
Performed Miracles
No one has come along like Moses. He was one of a kind. You could take my word for it but look at the words in Deuteronomy. He knew the Lord face to face. No one has ever been that close to God let alone get a glimpse of him like Moses did. He did signs and wonders against Egypt that hasn’t been seen since. Add to the top of that all the miracles performed through him while he was leading the Israelites in the desert. He struck the rock and water came out.
Walked Humbly
What made Mose one of a kind is that God did all of this and yet he was the most humble man ever to walk the earth. ( Numbers 12:3) He led millions, but it didn’t go to his head. When God wanted to destroy the Israelites, Moses stood between them and God and interceded for them. He wasn’t perfect, but his heart yearned to do what God wanted him to do.
Follow His Example
It is good to stop and remember those men and women who went before us who set the example for following Jesus. We are not to idolize them but model our lives after them. The Apostle Paul told us to follow him as he followed Christ. Study the life of Moses and discover why he was one of a kind.
