Rest for the Weary I Daily Walk Devotion

Are you feeling tired and worn out? Does it feel even worse because you aren’t able to do what you usually do? Weariness doesn’t just come from manual labor. It also comes from mental fatigue. When we have worried about something for a long time, or we don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel, we can become weary. Jesus promises rest for the weary.

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11:28‬

Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. “For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.”

Come to Me

Jesus said, “Come to me, all who are weary.” He doesn’t say to go to anyone else. He is the only option. If we go to Him, He will give us rest. No strings attached. It is almost too simple, but simplicity is often a test of our faith. Will we trust Him and obey what He says, or will we make it more difficult on ourselves? Rest for your soul is available only through Jesus Christ. All other options are dead ends.

Learn from Me

He also tells us to take His yoke. Recently I explained what a yoke is. It was the harness strapped to Oxen as they plowed the field. Jesus is telling us to take His yoke upon us. He will teach us how to “plow through” the challenges of our day, and we have nothing to fear because He is gentle and humble in heart. Jesus is not going to treat you like dead weight. Instead, He will gently teach you.

Rest for the Weary

If you need rest for your soul, go to Jesus today. There is no unique formula. Just go to Him in prayer and pour out your heart to Him. Take the heavy weight that is upon your heart and unload it. He can handle your worries because His burden is light. You will feel better, and you’ll be able to see Him take care of all it.
