Jesus was tempted in every way like every other human on earth. He experienced the pain and struggles that all of us face. That is why he can relate to our lives and be the bridge between God and us. Remember that Christ has gone through it and provided a way out of it when you are tempted. Look to him for your help.
Hebrews 4:15
“or we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are–yet he did not sin.”
Tempted in Every Way
The author of Hebrews writes theology unlike anywhere else in the Bible. The first four chapters are ripe in what scholars call Christology or the study of Jesus. Hebrews 4:15 is a prime example. We are told that Christ experienced the same temptations that we face. He endured Satan in the desert, and the attacks of the Pharisees yet didn’t sin. Our Savior was tempted in every way.
He Seeks Us Out
It would take a distant and uncaring God to create and leave people to themselves. To keep us at arms’ length and let us try to figure everything out would be self-defeating. A real God would not only care for His people but would also experience what they go through. God sent His Son so that He could reunite with us. God doesn’t wait for us to “find” Him. He seeks us out.
We are not alone
We are not alone. Jesus became human and experienced everything we have. He was tempted, yet he didn’t sin. This allowed him to be that perfect sacrifice for our sins, the Lamb without blemish. He also did this so that He could empathize with our plight. He knows our struggles and the temptations we go through because He also went through them. When we go to Him, we can go confidently, knowing that he has been there and has a way through it. Where we are weak, He is strong. Trust Him with where you are at right now. Go to Him and find peace. Walk where he wants you to walk.
