You never realize how much you rely upon the sun until you go through several days of rain. The cloud cover and dampness make you cold no matter what the temperature is. You want the sun to break through the clouds and remind you that it is there. The same can be said for Jesus. We never remember how much we rely upon Him until we have gone through a period of darkness. He is the light that leads to life.
Revelation 21:23
The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, because the glory of God illuminates it, and its lamp is the Lamb.”
The Glory of His Father
Yesterday we saw how there will be a new heaven and earth, and it will be called the New Jerusalem. At the center of that majestic city will be the source of all of its light and power, the Lamb of God. There will be no need for a solar system where we orbit around the sun or a moon for its gravitational pull because Jesus will be everything we need. He will be the light of the city because He is the glory of God. Hard to imagine because we know of nothing like it, but it will be incredible.
Lamp Unto Feet
King David told us that the Word of God is a light unto our path and a lamp unto our feet (Psalm 119:105). Jesus is the Word of God. One day He will illuminate the new world, but right now, He desires to be the light of our life and be the lamp to our path. When Jesus’ light is in us, it reveals the truth and exposes sin. Spiritual fruit can only grow from the radiance of Jesus in our hearts. Don’t hide from the light.
The light that Leads to Life
Jesus is the light that leads to life. Don’t let the darkness of this world encompass you. You can have hope in the middle of the most trying times. It doesn’t matter how bad things you have messed things up. Jesus can turn you around. All it takes is for you to repent of your sins and put your trust in the Lord. When you do that, He will break through and bring life to your soul.
