People do not like to be limited in their choices. They especially don’t like to be told there is only one way to do something. We want to do things our way, on our terms, and have as many options as possible. When confronted with a situation that provides only one option we complain. That is the problem most people have with Christianity. There is only one way to heaven through Jesus Christ. He is the only way.
1 Timothy 2:5-6
For there is one God and one mediator between God and humanity, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, a testimony at the proper time.”
Stand Before God
The word mediator means: “An intermediary, go-between, or expert in divine things, not to negotiate agreement or compromise but to approach the deity on behalf of others.” Jesus is the one and only mediator between humans and God. He is the only one who can stand before God on our behalf and declare us in right standing. Nothing else works, and no other path will get you there. All roads don’t lead to heaven.
Paid the Price
How can Jesus be the one true mediator? He gave Himself as a ransom for everyone so that their sin could be forgiven. The wages of our sin is death (Rom 6:23), and that puts a price on our head we can’t pay. Jesus is the only one who can pay that bill. No good works by you will ever be enough to cover the cost of your sin. But, when you do decide to follow Jesus, he stands before His Father and declares your debt of sin paid and you in right standing with Him.
The Only Way
There is a lot of false teaching that creeps into the church, and Christians lives contradict this. Don’t believe it for a second. Jesus’s life is testimony enough to put your complete trust in Him. You don’t need a priest or anyone else to be your mediator to God. Go directly to Jesus and let Him do the necessary work in your heart. He is the only way.
