Be honest. How many of you are good at starting things but bad at finishing them? I am guilty of that more than I would like to admit. There is a lot of unfinished business in my life. Don’t beat yourself up over it. Understand that in God’s eyes you are a work in progress. He has unfinished business in your life that he will keep working on until our time here on earth is complete.
Philippians 1:6
“I am sure of this, that he who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Set Apart for a Special Use
The day we accepted Christ as our savior a powerful work in our life begun. Most of the heavy lifting was done through work of salvation, but there is a continuing work going on that we call sanctification. This is what Paul is talking about here. After our salvation, we begin a process of sanctification. It means to be set apart for special use. God has a unique purpose for you!
God’s Not Finished With You
While you live on earth, God has some unfinished business in your life. He is molding and shaping you into the image of His Son Jesus Christ. The work happens in our heart on a daily basis. If you feel like you don’t measure up in life don’t lose hope, God’s not finished with you yet. He will keep working on your until the day Christ returns.
Conclusion
What can you do to help this process? Prepare your heart. Just as a farmer prepares the soil for planting, we need to prepare our hearts. The soil of our heart has to be soft and weed free, so the seeds of God’s word can be planted. Are there hard areas in your heart that need to be tilled? Are there weeds (cares of the world) that need to be pulled? Let the Holy Spirit do the necessary work to prepare your heart. God began a good work in you. Let him continue it until you are face to face with Jesus.
