One of my dreams is to hike the Appalachian Trail on the east coast of the United States. It stretches from Georgia in the south to the tip of Maine in the north. To complete all of it you have to start in March so you will finish in October before the snow falls. Thousands of people attempt it every year. One day I will hike a good part of it, but until then I dream of it. One day I will ascend the mountains of the Lord and sit and learn at his feet. When he returns he will bring peace and we will walk in His paths.
Isaiah 2:3
“and many peoples will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us about his ways so that we may walk in his paths.” For instruction will go out of Zion and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.”
The Epicenter
Whether people want to admit it or not, Jerusalem is the center of the world. There may be more populous cities with more political influence, but none have the historical impact and future promise than Zion. It will be here that Jesus establishes his throne after the tribulation. He will rule for one thousand years, and the world will seek him out for wisdom and knowledge.
Take Notice
The world doesn’t take notice today, but it will come to the realization that we already have. That is we can go to him now and learn his ways by listening to his teachings. We don’t need to visit Jerusalem for this to happen, although if you do, it is incredible! All you need to do is seek him in the scriptures. We are all called to walk in his paths, and this only happens through his word and the Holy Spirit. Seek them both out today.
Walk in His Paths
Don’t be fooled by the glitz of the world. It is alluring on the outside but baseless underneath the surface. The only thing that satisfies is Jesus Christ. One day soon everyone will recognize that and seek him out and desire to walk in his paths.
