Investing in the Stock Market is risky. You could lose all of your money in a matter of hours and have nothing left. At the same time, you could see your money grow by over 20%. Over the long haul, you can see your initial investment more than double. The same is true for your work for Jesus. Your efforts may not initially show much fruit, but over time, it will begin to compound, and you will be responsible for a mighty harvest. When you stand before Jesus, He will say, “Well done, faithful servant.”
Matthew 25:21
His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord.’
Return on Investment
The parable of the talents can be interpreted in many ways. You can look at it from the perspective of how you use the gifts and talents God has given you, and you can look at it from the perspective of how you earn money. The former is the most popular. We interpret talents and those abilities that God has blessed us with. This parable though it is about how this master’s servants used the money he had given them and the returns they received. The master was interested in his return on investment, not on how they got there. We will be judged not on what we did while on earth but on the fruit of those labors.
Well Done Good and Faithful Servant
To the servant who received five talents, he came back with ten. He doubled what he was given! That is a 100% return for his master. Because of that, the master told him, “Well done,” and promoted him. What kind of return are you getting in the work you are doing for the Lord? I’m not here to judge you but keep you accountable. A lot of the Christian activity bears little fruit because people are afraid to do the work that has the highest return. Jobs like evangelism invoke fear in most believers but bring the highest return. Do the work that will have God say to you “Well done faithful servant.”
