As Christians, we are equipped with something that makes all the difference and something the rest of the world does not have, the Holy Spirit. From time to time people in the Old Testament were empowered by the Spirit, but after Jesus ascended to heaven, all of us have been filled with his power. One of our jobs is to learn how to work in the power of the Spirit.
Judges 14:6
“the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully on him, and he tore the lion apart with his bare hands as he might have torn a young goat. But he did not tell his father or mother what he had done.”

Samson was a unique character in the Bible. He was gifted with incredible strength and ability, far above every other man. At a time when the Philistines were a constant thorn in Israel’s side, he was a brief relief from their attacks. This scene shows him taking on a lion and defeating it with his bare hands. The Spirit of the Lord came on him, and it was as if the lion was a young goat.
Use Your Gifts
Never underestimate what the Holy Spirit can do through you. With his gifts and his power, he can use you to defeat Satan’s attacks. When the Holy Spirit fell on the early church on Pentecost Peter got up and preached, when he and John encountered a lame man at the temple gate he healed him. The list goes on and on with how the Holy Spirit works through people.
Power in the Simple Tasks
Most of the time the Spirit isn’t going to do something incredible, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t at work. The Spirit can work through the typical day to day tasks. You can be shopping and run into an old friend who is going through a rough time. Your words of encouragement and prayer can prevent that person from going over the edge into depression. The key is that we are open to being used. With the Spirit in us, there is nothing Satan can do to stop us.
