Salvation conquers sins grip on our life. We have died to sin because of the abounding grace of Jesus Christ in our life. Some have taken this unending grace as a license to sin. God’s grace will always outpace our sin, but that doesn’t mean that we can keep on sinning. We have died to sin and are to pursue holiness.
Romans 6:1-2
What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?
Set Free From Sin
Grace doesn’t give us the liberty to continue sinning. God desires that we live Holy lives. While we are forgiven of our sins and our eternity is secure that doesn’t give a license to live any way we want. Paul exhorts us to live Holy lives. We have died to the sinful lifestyle we lived before Jesus Christ. We are new creations in Christ. With that comes a new way of living. We are to keep our minds focused on things above and to obey scripture. While we still stumble in sin, we are not supposed to purposely go out and sin.
Abounding Grace
What if you are struggling with sin that you can’t get free from? Does that mean you are sentenced to an eternity in hell? No! God’s grace will always exceed your sin. You don’t keep on sinning because you will be forgiven, but the grace is there nonetheless. As we conform to the image of Jesus Christ the desire to sin should dissipate. The Holy Spirit guides us in our daily walk. If we stumble the grace is there, and it is more than we can imagine. Walk in his abounding grace today.
