One of the great scenes in the Star Wars movies is when Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader have their fight scene in Empire Strikes Back. As they are battling it out with their lightsabers, Darth Vader tells Luke he is his father and then tells him to join the dark side. He tells him “It is your destiny.” Luke refuses and would rather die than join. Did you know that God has a purpose and destiny for you? King David tells us about it.
Psalms 138:8
“The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me. Lord, your faithful love endures forever; do not abandon the work of your hands.”
God’s Purpose for You
God has a purpose and a destiny for you. That destiny is for you to grow and flourish under his loving care. He is working out that purpose in you every day. The level of success is dependent upon your willingness to allow that work. Most of life’s frustrations come from competing agendas. Our plans verse God’s plans. Problems happen when we insist on our way.
Faithful Love
Thankfully God’s love is faithful. He is patient with you and doesn’t get upset when you don’t buy into His plan. God doesn’t get frustrated with you but instead gently nudges you back to where he knows you need to go. He has your best interests in mind, and he knows what your hopes and dreams are. Don’t worry about your purpose or destiny. Instead, be faithful every day in following Jesus and over time it will reveal itself.
It Is Your Destiny
God will not abandon you. He doesn’t give up on people. Psalm 37 tells us that he wants to give us the desires of our heart. For that to happen, we have to get in line with his plans. Seek first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you. Ask the Lord to keep working on you. It is your destiny.
