I am fiercely protective of my children. If someone tries to hurt them, I don’t take it lightly. My kids know that I have their back, and that gives them a sense of peace. I won’t always be able to be there for them. Once they are adults, they will have to rely upon the Lord to be their shield. We don’t have to live in fear of what the enemy can do. Let God protect you.
Jeremiah 20:11
“But the Lord is with me like a violent warrior. Therefore, my persecutors will stumble and not prevail. Since they have not succeeded, they will be utterly shamed, an everlasting humiliation that will never be forgotten.”
Words Can Shake You
Words like this can shake you. You will either have feelings that welcome this or upset by it. When society has told us forever that God is a God of love and not hate, it is hard to swallow words where He is a violent warrior. As Jeremiah shares these words, He is telling the Israelites that God will avenge His people one day. The people who are persecuting the Jews will stumble and be utterly ashamed. The Babylonians were oppressing them, and the Lord would eventually humble Nebuchadnezzar and bring down the mighty empire.
Equal Parts Kind and Protective
God is kind and patient, but an equal part of His love for His children is their protection. He sees how people who are opposed to Jesus treat His followers. While He may not bring immediate protection and judgment, He doesn’t forget what they have done, and eventually, that person will stumble and bring humiliation upon themselves. Don’t think for a moment that it was just their doing. God allowed them the opportunity to repent, and they refused, so He lowered the boom on them. Even more, they will exist in everlasting shame in Hell.
Let God Protect You
Let God protect you. Our response to what others have done to us pales in comparison to what God can do. Keep your eyes focused on Him and forgive the offender. Don’t let the distractions take you away from what God is doing in your life. Satan would love nothing more than to get your off track. Fight through the pain and move on.
