Messenger of the Lord Almighty I Daily Walk Devotion

Pastors can get a bad rap. A few bad apples have ruined the reputation of the whole bunch. Almost all of these faithful servants obey God’s calling and serve the people faithfully without much fanfare. In the eyes of the Lord, they are a messenger of the Lord Almighty. He doesn’t take very lightly the work they do.

Malachi 2:7

For the lips of a priest ought to preserve knowledge, because he is the messenger of the LORD Almighty and people seek instruction from his mouth.

Set the Example

The Priests role in the Old Testament was to teach the people the Law. They instructed them in the ways of the Lord and prepared the feasts for people to worship. They both modeled the life and taught the Scriptures. Jewish life centered around the temple so they played a major role. The pastor has assumed that role in the New Testament church.

Seek Instruction

The Servant of the Lord has the responsibility to teach believers the Word of God. What comes out of their mouths is vitally important. Knowledge and wisdom should be the marks of what comes out of their mouths. People look to them as an example to live by, and it comes from more than just teaching. They listen to our conversations and gauge our reactions. We have to be above reproach in what comes out of our mouths.

There is nothing special about the servant. In fact, God often chooses to use a vessel that the rest of us think isn’t worth his time. But God knows that it is his power poured into a willing servant that makes a powerful impact. We are messengers of the Lord Almighty, there is nothing mighty about us. We are simply conduits to his grace, mercy, and love. Pray for your pastor today. He is in the midst of a spiritual battle that you cannot see. Satan would gladly take him out.
