Stumbling around in the dark can result in getting hurt or something getting damaged. It may be as simple as a stubbed toe but it could be worse. The same goes with our faith. Isaiah calls us to walk in the light of the Lord. Right now the world stumbles around in the darkness but one day the light of this world will come and they will seek him. Till that happens we are to follow him.
Isaiah 2:2-3, 5
It shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be lifted up above the hills; and all the nations shall flow to it, and many peoples shall come, and say: “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.” O house of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the Lord.
Coming Back to Reign
When Christ returns he will establish his kingdom in Israel and Jerusalem will be his capital city. His kingdom will be greater than any other nation. In those days the nations of the world will come and seek his counsel. They will want to know his ways so they could walk in his paths. The days of this happening are getting closer. Jesus will return soon to gather his bride, the church, and to establish his thousand-year reign. What a glorious day that will be. Peace will reign over all of the earth. What God intended in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve will begin to be restored. As his followers, we will reign with him.
So Much Conflict
It’s hard to imagine that happening right now. We continually hear of conflict between nations. Most of the world hates Israel and would prefer that it disappeared. There is an all-out assault on God’s church, and those who follow his word are considered hateful. How could this possibly change? Jesus is going to return, and with the power of his word, he will defeat his enemies.
Walk in the Light
What is our role in all of this? Isaiah tells us to walk in the light. These days may seem dark, but the light of Christ still shines in our hearts. He can lead us through the valley of the shadow of death while we wait for his return. This is a choice we have to make. Judah had the light but chose to chase after idols. Prophets like Isaiah pointed the people in the right direction, but the people didn’t listen. Be lead by God’s word and his spirit. Let it be a lamp unto your feet and light unto your path. Stay the course and hold on till he returns.
