Defeating the Devil in Your Life I Daily Walk Devotion

The pews of churches are filled with people bravely putting up a front that everything is good, and they have it all together while privately they are sinking into despair. They are struggling with secret sin and are fearful that it be exposed. They want victory over their struggle but are not sure how. Defeating the devil in your life begins with surrendering our lives to the Lord and letting Him do the work.

‭‭James‬ ‭4:7

“Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”

Source of Our Strength

Most of the focus on this verse is in the last half, “Resit the Devil.” If temptation comes, you must reject it. If doubt and discouragement come, you need to think positive. Those are the right approaches, but they lack something that will make them successful, the strength of the Lord. If you try to do it under your strength, you will be able to do it at first, but eventually, you will falter. For the strength to overcome to be in you, you need to “submit therefore to God.”

Struggling with Sin?

Are you struggling with resisting the devil in your life? Do you give in to temptation on a regular basis? Are you ready to give up because you think you are never going to be able to get victory in your life? Let me tell you that there is still hope. Don’t give up the fight because Christ has not given up on you. His grace and forgiveness are there for you every time you stumble. He wants to help you overcome the devil in your life.

Defeating the Devil in Your Life

You are capable of defeating the devil in your life when you are submitted to the Lord. That means your heart and mind are in alignment with the will of God. You have an active, thriving relationship with Jesus that is sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. When temptation comes, you hear that voice inside of you telling you not to do it, and you obey it. Even if you do stumble, you are okay because you know that Christ is in you, and He forgives.
