I am always touched by those videos where people meet for the first time because a loved one donated their organs after death. One dad biked 1400 miles to meet the person who received his daughter’s heart. It was touching to see the man express his gratitude to the dad as he received the gift of life through a new heart. Today is Christmas, and we are expressing our gratitude to Jesus for coming and giving us the gift of life.
John 1:1-5
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
The Gift of Life
Jesus Christ is God’s word to us. Jesus reveals the heart of God and his desire to reconcile with us. When God sent his son on that first Christmas day, it was the gift of life. Jesus came to save the world from its sin problem and give us life. That life should be our guiding light. Philippians 2 says that Jesus lowered himself and became man. He was there at creation, and now he was entering the realm of humans to be the perfect sacrifice.
A Beacon of Hope
As you go about your activities on this sacred day, remember the gift of life that was given to you. He has placed a light inside of you so you can be a beacon of hope to those caught in the darkness. Don’t be afraid because even though the darkness is intimidating, it can’t win a battle with you. I am so thankful that Jesus came and died for my sins. I also want to wish you a Merry Christmas from Daily Walk ministries.
